Yamaha's Beginnings 


2018 Yamaha Grizzly EPS near West Palm Beach, FLYamaha was originally established as Nippon Gakki Co. Ltd. in 1887 as a piano and reed organ manufacturer. After World War II, company president Genichi Kawakami pivoted towards repurposing the company's wartime production machinery and technology know-how into the manufacturing of motorcycles. Yamaha hasn't looked back since. In 1955, as a direct result of the success seen by these newly produced motorcycles, Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. was founded. After seeing success in international competition with its two-stroke engine, Yamaha Motors introduced its first branch of international subsidiaries in Thailand (1964) and the Netherlands (1968). In 1968 Yamaha launched their first four-stroke motorcycle, the XS-1. This was a tougher, faster, and stronger motorcycle that outperformed the previously popular British motorcycles. From this history, it is clear that Yamaha as a company is the perfect reflection of its products. These powersports vehicles are adaptable, versatile, and powerful making them the perfect vehicles to outperform expectations.
